Nestled into the hilly landscape of Monroe, New York, this 500,000 sf high school consists of a single building and is cruciform in plan. Classrooms are located within the 4-story section of the cruciform. The auditorium, gymnasium, support and administrative areas are located at the other end of the building at the base for the cruciform. DeSimone used a structural steel moment frame and a composite metal deck, which allowed for rapid construction. Long span trusses were used at the auditorium and gymnasium, enabling construction of regulation size competition spaces. |
