| With its laser light beacon and curved curtain walls, this 46-story, 600-foot tall skyscraper in New York City was designed by Emery Roth & Sons for William Kaufman Organization. The building was challenging to design but has proven to be one of the most striking office towers in lower Manhattan. Severe winds, site restrictions and a small wedge-shaped floor plate added to the challenge involved in this project. DeSimone devised a wind-resisting system that consisted of a bundled, braced core, coupled with an exterior tube frame. Utilizing a hat truss at the top of the structure proved extremely economical and allowed for the structure to be constructed under budget. |
