The proposed building situated at the intersection of 32nd Street and Sixth Avenue in New York City contains a 48-story, 377,000 sf residential tower with two cellar levels below grade. Both cellar floors accommodate a parking garage. Retail spaces are located on the first two floors above grade levels while office space is provided on the third floor. The residential tower above creates rental apartments. The site is surrounded by existing MTA/LIRR/PATH tunnels as well as stations along Sixth Avenue and 32nd Street. Design coordination involves extensive Transit Authority review and approval for proposed building foundations. The building height necessitates the use of structural wind tunnel testing to accurately estimate the wind impact on the building and corresponding structural accelerations. |
