Located on the former site of the YWCA headquarters at Lexington Avenue and 53rd Street in New York City, this high-end residential tower will be a signature project for both RFR Realty and Hines Development. The ultra-slender Foster & Partners design will rise a staggering 687' above street level. At a mere 46' wide, this building will have a 14:1 aspect ratio and will be one of the most slender ever attempted. The residential floors will top out at 61 stories and the 250,000 sf complex will encompass serviced apartments, hotel, and retail functions. Structurally, the design depends on the resources of a hat truss, a mid-height outrigger band and high strength concrete to achieve acceptable lateral displacement values under wind tunnel prescribed forces.
