Electrical Engineer

Location: New York


DeSimone Consulting Engineers is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our New York office. This role includes the opportunity to work on multi-disciplinary engineering projects. The ideal candidate should have good work ethic and eagerness to learn.

The candidate will assist project engineers with building Electrical, Fire Alarm, Lighting and Lighting Controls design. Responsibilities will include calculations, research, drafting in AutoCAD and Revit, assisting in developing contract documentation and review submittals and shop drawings.

The candidate will work on a variety of engineering projects within the MEP-FP and Forensics team, ranging from design to forensic assignments. Design assignments will involve assisting project engineers with new design, as well as design of renovation for existing facilities and systems. Forensic investigation assignments will include assisting project engineer with review of system or building failures and disasters.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of electrical power circuitry and theories
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willing to think outside the box
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in both manual and software-assisted calculation and analysis
  • Self-motivated individual willing to take on new challenges
  • Ability to efficiently work on tasks independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to learn independently
  • Ability to travel locally and out of region

Preferred Skills

  • Fundamental In Engineering – Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
  • Internship experience in the Architectural Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code)
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code
  • Knowledge of Building Codes and local codes
  • Knowledge of referenced standards (ASHRAE, IECC)
  • Knowledge of other Building Systems (Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection)
  • Knowledge of AGi-32
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD
  • Proficient in ETAP and SKM
  • Knowledge on Information Technology System design
  • Knowledge on Security System design
