DeSimone Consulting Engineers is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our New York office. This role includes the opportunity to work on multi-disciplinary engineering projects. The ideal candidate should have a proven background in Electrical, Fire Alarm, Lighting and Lighting Control design. The candidate will be responsible for performing design calculations, developing contract documentation, mentoring junior engineers, performing field surveys and assessments.

The candidate will work on a variety of engineering projects within the MEP-FP and Forensics team, ranging from design to forensic assignments. Design assignments will involve new design, as well as design of renovation for existing facilities and systems. Forensic investigation assignments take place after failures or disasters have happened and entail on-site investigations across the globe as well as desktop reviews of relevant materials.

Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Fundamental In Engineering – Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
  • Minimum four years of experience in the architectural engineering field
  • Knowledge of electrical power systems, fire alarm systems, lighting, and lighting control systems
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code)
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code)
  • Knowledge of building codes and local codes
  • Knowledge of referenced standards (ASHRAE, IECC)
  • Knowledge of other building systems (Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willing to think outside the box
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, as well as field documentation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in both manual and software-assisted calculation and analysis
  • Self-motivated individual willing to take on new challenges
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD
  • Proficient in ETAP and SKM
  • Ability to direct and supervise entry level engineers
  • Ability to efficiently work on projects independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to travel locally and out of region
  • Ability to perform site surveys
  • Ability to attend and manage project meetings

Preferred Skills

  • Professional Engineer License
  • Proficient in AGi-32
  • Knowledge on information technology system design
  • Knowledge on security system design
  • Ability to manage electrical design responsibilities independently
  • Ability to manage projects independently
