Ashley Reed joined DeSimone as Director of the firm’s Facades Consulting Practice in the Southeast region of the United States. She has over eight years of professional experience in enclosure systems design, performance analysis, and computational modeling.
Ms. Reed’s career includes experience as a facade consultant, systems designer, and technical instructor at Columbia University. She has worked with and managed teams of facade consultants and technicians for a variety of project types across the United States.
Ms. Reed has combined her background in building physics and computational design to study solar concentration and glare risk for structural glass systems. She has developed workflows to evaluate thermal fracture risk of glass using annual climate data and heat transfer analysis. She has also integrated dynamic thermal and moisture simulations into the design of resilient enclosure systems.
Ms. Reed’s experience includes Florida Power and Light PGA Office, a multi-phase office campus; Miami-Dade Civil Courthouse, a 600,000 square foot municipal tower; 15 Hudson Yards, a 914-foot-tall residential tower; and Case Western Reserve Health Education Campus, a 477,000 square foot academic facility.
Ms. Reed earned a Master of Architecture degree from Cornell University, a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University, and her Bachelor of Science in Engineering from The Cooper Union.
