Joseph Castellano is a Director in DeSimone’s Risk Management Services practice. As a licensed Professional Engineer and a construction professional, Mr. Castellano has held leadership positions at major firms in the construction, real estate, and insurance industries. Mr. Castellano’s work has focused on construction advisory, forensic insurance and contract claims, and litigation advisory services to both public and private clients. He delivers risk based advisory services and construction consulting to domestic and global clients in multiple market sectors including healthcare, hospitality, transportation, retail, higher education, industrial and manufacturing.
Mr. Castellano has been engaged to resolve some of the largest and most complex contract and insurance claims, schedule delay evaluations, and business disputes such as those resulting from natural disasters, subcontractor defaults, and contractual issues. Throughout his career he has evaluated and resolved millions of dollars in damage claims and disputes. He has prepared independent estimates of the costs the contractor may be entitled to recover under relevant contract clauses. Mr. Castellano has provided a range of quantum analyses, including construction cost auditing, assessment of damages, additional costs, loss and expense, forensic accounting, estimations and valuations, evaluating change orders, evaluation at termination and forecast cost to completion.
In an advisory and strategic capacity, Mr. Castellano works closely with the corporate finance sector, who are challenged by the myriad of construction and insurance issues that impact fiscal and physical performance of real estate assets. His guidance resulted in various cost savings as a result of construction monitoring, contractual compliance consulting and due diligence.
He has served as an expert witness on litigation and disputes related to project delays and as a Mediator with the NYC School Construction Authority.
Mr. Castellano earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Fairfield University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from University of Connecticut.
