Bridging Science and Humanity

The force of gravity is the benign adversary. The Structural Engineer is the strategist whose tactics determine the forms that shape, bend curve, and equilibrate this force. It is a sign of the Structural Engineer’s excellence when the structures which result are the most economical and pleasing, consistent with the materials available. The strategy consists of utilizing innovative systems, computer assisted design, through knowledge of available materials, their strengths and their weaknesses.

We realize that our profession is a bridge between science and the humanities. We also realize that technical ability is sterile when not applied to human betterment. We recognize that to be truly effective, we have to practice our profession with special emphasis on meeting our architectural and corporate client’s non-technical needs, such as communication, sensitivity to architectural design, and fostering of human relationships.
