New Haven, CT- Architect Magazine – The Yale Health Center
DeSimone’s project, The Yale Health Center, was featured in Architect Magazine.
Located at the edge of Yale University’s Campus in New Haven, Connecticut, this project involved the design and construction of two new buildings. The main building provides a new Health Center that contains approximately 147,000 sf. The program includes Administration, Ambulatory Care, Diagnostic Treatment, Nursing, Support, and Public Spaces on four floors above-grade and one floor below-grade level. The construction budget for this building was $54 million. The second building provides a 350-car parking garage that is shared by the Health Center and the adjacent Rose Center. The garage utilizes precast concrete construction, and the budget for this building was $9.25 million.
The piece gives a fascinating glimpse into the design of the center as told by Mack Scogin and Merrill Elam of Atlanta. In an in-depth discussion they talk about the new health services building at Yale University in New Haven, Conn., and the influences that shaped it.
