DeSimone has been named Structural Engineering Company of the Year at the 2019 Middle East Consultant Awards. This honor marks DeSimone’s fourth win in the five years since the award’s inception in 2015. Ahmed M. Osman, PE, Managing Principal for DeSimone’s Abu Dhabi office, received the award on behalf of the firm at a ceremony held at the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai on December 10.
The Middle East Consultant (MEC) Awards recognizes the innovations and achievements of the region’s best multi-discipline construction consultants, architects, structural engineers, quantity surveyors, cost consultants, and specialists in MEP, urban design, sustainability, among others. Winners are chosen by a panel of respected judges from various construction disciplines to ensure a balanced viewpoint and a fair result.
On the subject of DeSimone Consulting Engineers’ contributions to structural engineering in the region, the MEC judges and event issued a joint statement, recognizing DeSimone as a long-term player, having established a reputation for creative thinking and innovation.

“Since 2015,” they added, “[DeSimone’s] UAE-based engineer’s headcount has grown by ninety-percent, and the judges applauded the fact that the women make up forty-percent of its UAE based workforce. In the period between September 2018 and September 2019, the firm has worked on a variety of key projects, including Al Wasl Tower and Ha’il Water Tank Tower in Saudi Arabia.”
According to the MEC, “Nominees for the category of Structural Engineering Company of the Year spent the last twelve months providing the most intelligent and innovative structural solutions to clients. With this award MEC recognizes the professionalism and creativity of this firm, and highlights the impact they’ve had in shaping some of the incredible projects that are underway or have been delivered in the Middle East.”
