For the 15th consecutive year, DeSimone’s New York office participated in Canstruction, a unique charity design competition featuring structures comprised entirely of canned goods. This year, the project team was inspired by Shel Silverstein’s iconic children’s story, The Giving Tree. The tree structure stands over seven-feet-tall and is comprised of 4,768 cans that are expected to feed 2,191 New Yorkers.

The annual event invites teams of engineers, architects, and contractors to compete against one another for best structure awards. At the end of the exhibition the canned foods are donated to local hunger relief organizations.
