DeSimone’s The New School University Center was the front page feature story in the Steel Institute of New York’s Spring 2014 edition of Metals in Construction.

The combined one-phase building of the New School University Center houses 9,000 sf of retail space, 114,320 sf of dormitory space, and 202,290 sf of academic space for a total of 325,610 gsf. The inherent dissimilarities between the dormitory and academic program space planning required a complex structural transfer system be utilized at the interface of the two programs.

The building was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill along with SLCE architects. Read the full story here.
