Located on Liberty Island, just steps from Lady Liberty, the new Statue of Liberty Museum has officially topped out in New York City. The new 26,000 square foot center is designed by architects FXFOWLE, exhibit and experience designers ESI Design, and DeSimone Consulting Engineers.
When completed, the development will serve as an extension of New York City’s most historically significant standing structures with a particular focus on sustainability, public engagement, and modern design.
As structural engineer, DeSimone worked closely with FXFOWLE, the National Park Service, and the Statue of Liberty – Ellis Island Foundation to help accomplish the cultural facility. In addition to an indoor museum, the development will include a sprawling outdoor plaza and a rooftop terrace with incredible views of the Manhattan skyline. When completed, the structure is anticipated to achieve LEED Gold Certification.
