P.S. 62, NYC’s First Net-Zero Energy School, Wins the 2016 AIANY COTE Award

ps62-kathleen-grimmThe New York City Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIANY) selects P.S. 62 – The Kathleen Grimm School for Leadership and Sustainability at Sandy Ground as a 2016 COTE Award winning project.

As the premiere net-zero energy school in New York City, P.S. 62 produces the same amount of energy as it consumes by utilizing energy-efficient lighting textures, low-energy kitchen equipment, a greenhouse and vegetable garden, a geo-exchange system, a solar thermal system for hot water, and other cutting-edge, sustainable technologies.

AIANY’s Committee on the Environment (COTE) works to advance, disseminate, and advocate practices that enhance both the design quality and the environmental performance of the built environment.
