For the 15th consecutive year, DeSimone’s New York office participated in CANstruction, a charitable design competition with regional chapters around the globe. This year, DeSimone’s “Tree of Life” made the shortlist for an International People’s Choice Award drawing inspiration from Shel Silverstein’s iconic children’s story, The Giving Tree.
To vote, “like” our structure on Facebook. The CANstructure with the most “likes” takes the prize!
The annual event invites teams of engineers, architects, and contractors to compete against one another for best structure awards. At the end of the exhibition the canned foods are donated to local hunger relief organizations. DeSimone’s tree structure stood over seven-feet-tall and was comprised of 4,768 cans that are expected to feed 2,191 New Yorkers.
