- DeSimone provided 3D structural modeling and detailing for the steel portions of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in order to generate fabrication shop drawings, material lists, and CNC files for the steel fabricator
- The stadium’s design is most noted for its panoramic halo scoreboard and its unique, camera shutter-style retractable roof; DeSimone was brought on board to assist in detailing the roof
- DeSimone was responsible for 2,850 tons of steel design for the roof portions of the project
- There were numerous challenges faced in the detailing of the unique structure, including providing extensive survey coordinates and incorporating the cambers of the structure
- Due to the tight timeframe, DeSimone had 10-15 detailers working on the same model simultaneously, which introduced additional challenges. Because of this, DeSimone had to maintain constant open channels of communication with the engineers on the project and ensure information was passing freely between all parties involved in the project
