Sofitel New YorkNew York, New York
- A 280,000 sf, 31-story luxury high-rise building in Midtown Manhattan
- The design sought to maximize the available area with minimal impact on the surrounding neighborhood
- An asymmetrical T-shape footprint is chosen, consisting of two 20-story wings flanking a central tower
- Its lateral load system uses shear walls and a gravity frame
- Large transfer floors, curtain walls, and pre-cast facades enable the design to accommodate multiple column-free spaces
- With its bold curves, strong lines and use of glass, limestone and concrete elements, the building’s exterior is both contemporary and traditional
