Sofitel New YorkNew York, New York

  • A 280,000 sf, 31-story luxury high-rise building in Midtown Manhattan
  • The design sought to maximize the available area with minimal impact on the surrounding neighborhood
  • An asymmetrical T-shape footprint is chosen, consisting of two 20-story wings flanking a central tower
  • Its lateral load system uses shear walls and a gravity frame
  • Large transfer floors, curtain walls, and pre-cast facades enable the design to accommodate multiple column-free spaces
  • With its bold curves, strong lines and use of glass, limestone and concrete elements, the building’s exterior is both contemporary and traditional
  • Awards:
