  • The existing structure dates from 1913 and was constructed of heavy steel framing and cinder concrete slabs
  • New work cut back the perimeter of the existing floor plan at floors 3 through 12
  • Six new columns are installed to support the modified footprint_s east side
  • Existing steel columns are reinforced to accommodate the weight of twelve new floors
  • A new lateral system is designed to resist forces resulting from the new 330-foot tall building
  • A new cellar and ground floor structure containing a ballroom and street-level garden are also constructed
  • The project_s total area is 145,000 sf, of which 68,000 sf is new construction
